WBK | Gaels Begin Three-Game Roadtrip At Seattle

MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's hits the road for its final games before West Coast Conference action. The Gaels take on Seattle on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. SMC is 3-0 all-time against the Redhawks, including last year's 80-64 win at McKeon Pavilion.
SMC takes on Oregon State on Monday at 7:00 p.m. The Gaels are 1-3 all-time against the Beavers with the only SMC win coming during the 1989 season. The Gaels head to Eugene, Oregon on Wednesday to take on the Ducks. Saint Mary's is 0-6 all-time against the Ducks, as the two squads met last year in Moraga with the Ducks coming out on top 100-71.
SAINT MARY'S AT A GLANCE
The Gaels were predicted to finish fifth in the Preseason West Coast Conference Poll. SMC was voted behind No. 1 Gonzaga, No. 2 BYU, No. 3 Pepperdine and No. 4 Loyola Marymount. Jasmine Smith was named to the Preseason All-WCC team after being named All-WCC last year averaging 16.9 points per game.
Saint Mary's has played in two tournaments this year. A season opening trip to Chicago, Illinois for the Maggie Dixon Classic (hosted by DePaul) and hosting the Hilton-Concord tournament. SMC split two games in Chicago, losing to DePaul and defeating Montana. The Gaels defeated Virginia Tech to advance to the SMC tournament title game but dropped a two-point decision to Quinnipiac. Saint Mary's enters the week having gone 4-2 over its six-game homestand.
Last week against California and UC Davis
Saint Mary's matched-up with Cal last week as the Gaels gave the cross-town Golden Bears a game. Cal connected on eight three-pointers in the first-half and withstood the Gaels rally in the second-half as SMC cut the deficit down to seven points but ran out of time in the loss.
The Gaels defeated UC Davis for the first time in five years as SMC controlled the boards and took a 75-58 decision over the Aggies. SMC outrebounded UCD 49-22 as the Gaels led by as many as 17 points in the win.
