MORAGA, Calif. - Sophomore guard Stephen Holt scored a game-high 15 points and totaled four assists, four rebounds and three assists, and freshman forward Brad Waldow scored 13 points and collected seven rebounds as Saint Mary's defeated Kennesaw State, 74-51, for its seventh straight win Monday night at McKeon Pavilion.
The Gaels (9-1) also received nine points and eight assists from junior guard Matthew Dellavedova, and six points and a game-high tying 11 rebounds from senior forward Rob Jones.
Freshman guard Delbert Love scored 12 points to lead the Owls (2-8), who have lost six in a row and are in the midst of playing nine straight road games. Junior forward Aaron Anderson added 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Kennesaw State.
Playing their fourth game in seven days did not appear to affect the Gaels as they used a 17-1 run over a seven-minute span to take a 31-14 lead with 3:21 remaining in the first half and were never threatened.
Saint Mary's utilized a strong inside game to outscore Kennesaw State, 48-14, inside the paint and scored 24 points off 16 Owls turnovers.
The Gaels, who limited Kennesaw State to just 40 percent shooting (20-for-50), held an opponent under 60 points for the fifth straight game and seventh time this season.
Saint Mary's closes out a homestand that includes five games in eight days when it hosts Eastern Washington on Tuesday at McKeon Pavilion beginning at 7 p.m.
