Tony Dress joined the Saint Mary's coaching staff as a volunteer assistant in 2013.
Dress is a native of Concord, Calif. and a resident of Clayton. He held the position of head baseball coach at San Francisco State University from 2007 to 2009. In 2008, he coached two All-CCAA team selections. Prior to SFSU, he was head baseball coach at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, California for three years (2004-2006). Under Dress' leadership, the Mustangs hosted their first home playoff game in 16 years. That season, LMC finished in the top three in the state of California in hits, stolen bases, batting average and doubles. Dress also coached at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, Calif. from 2001-2003. He turned a last-place program into a winning program within 18 months. Prior to his tenure at Acalanes, Dress served as the Assistant to the General Manager of the Wichita Wranglers, Double A-affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, and the National Baseball Congress.
After college, Dress spent four years as Game Development Coordinator for Major League Baseball International in Norway, Sweden, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. Prior to that, Dress played baseball in college at Chico State University between 1991-1993. During that period Dress earned his degree in Speech Communication, captured the team's Most Valuable Player Award and was named Most Outstanding Hitter in 1993.
Dress has spent the last two years building an international sport tour company called Northern Light Sports International. NLSI was developed to give student-athletes from around the country the opportunity to compete and experience different cultures from other parts of the world.
Tony and his wife, Shelly, have been married for 12 years. They have two boys, Jack (6) and Luke (5).
