Abhishek Bastola took the Singles B Bracket finals over Santa Clara's Kamran Khan on the final day of the Aggie Invitational.
DAVIS, Calif. — Saint Mary's picked up a huge win on the final day of the Aggie Invitational on Sunday as newcomer Abhishek Bastola won the B Singles Bracket in his very first tournament as a Gael.
After picking up three wins to advance to the semifinals, Bastola faced up against Sema Pankin from Portland and won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
In the final round, Bastola was paired up against another WCC-rival in Santa Clara's Kamran Khan. Bastola and Khan battled hard in the first set, taking the set into a tiebreaker that Bastola eventually won. The junior then breezed through set two with a 6-1 score to win the bracket.
In the tournament, Bastola won all five of his singles' matches and did so in straight set fashion. Five of the ten sets Bastola won came in 6-0 or 6-1 fashion and he was also victorious in all three of the tiebreakers he entered.

Saint Mary's will have this weekend off before returning to the courts on Oct. 11 for the ITA Regionals in Seattle. More information and results to the tournament can be found on the Gaels' schedule page.
