Saint Mary's held steady for a fifth place finish at this year's Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.
STOCKTON, Calif. — In the third and final day of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, Saint Mary's combined for a 1-under score to place fifth in the 16-team competition. Leading the charge for the Gaels was Michael Slesinski who grabbed a top-10 finish with a 6-under score for the tournament.
THE LEADERBOARD
Slesinski finished highest on the individual leaderboard for the Gaels by tying for seventh in the field of 90 competitors. The redshirt sophomore had three birdies, including one on the 18th hole, to finish 1-over on the day. One stroke back of Slesinski was Ethan Ashbrook who tied for 11th.
Nevada took the title on Saturday with a 22-under round to finish 12 strokes ahead of second place BYU. Nevada's Joey Vrzich set the tournament record with a 10-under par 61 score to lead the Wolfpack. Rounding out the top-5 behind Nevada and BYU were San Francisco, Long Beach State, and Saint Mary's, respectively.
BYU's Peter Kuest remained on top during for the final round to finish first in the field at 16-under. Vrzich and Sam Harned from Nevada trailed just behind Kuest while Joe Fryer (CSULB), Soren Lind (USF), and Brett Bennett (UCSB) also finished in the top-5.
Five of the six Gaels placed in the top half of the leaderboard including Blake Hathcoat (t-27th) and Jeffrey Inouye-Wong (t-21st), who competed as an individual.

- Ethan Farnam scored five birdies on the front nine for a 3-under score.
- Hathcoat led the Gaels with a 2-under showing in the final round and had five birdies.
- Four Gaels birdied the par 5 14th hole on Saturday.
- Saint Mary's had four eagles during the tournament which tied for first with BYU and Pacific.
- Slesinski shot 6-under on par 4 holes during the tournament which was tied for fourth best.
- The Gaels will play at their host tournament next week at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif. The Saint Mary's Invitational lasts Nov. 5-7 and will feature one round per day of competition. More information on the tournament can be found on the Gaels' schedule page.
