Newly Renovated McKeon Pavilion Will Feature Three-Points of Sale for Beer and Wine
MORAGA, Calif. – The upcoming Saint Mary's men's basketball season kicks off on Nov. 7 and there will be a new feature this year in the renovated McKeon Pavilion, the sale of beer and wine at three concession stands inside and outside of the pavilion.
In a new partnership with Michelob Ultra and Markstein Sales Company, Saint Mary's concessionaire Sodexo, will sell beer and wine before and during all home men's basketball games this season. Sales will be open to all fans over the age of 21 years old.
The Saint Mary's athletics department has also created an outside patio behind McKeon Pavilion to provide fans with increased points of sale for beer, wine, food and merchandise, along with portable restrooms.
The new fan engagement area, called the "Pavilion Patio" will open two hours before tip-off and will sell beer and wine, along with upgraded concession items, until the end of halftime. Inside concession stands will remain open through the end of the game, with beer and wine sales being cut off at the 8-minute media timeout in the second half.
"We are constantly looking at ways to improve the gameday experience for our fans," Director of Athletics Mike Matoso said. "The addition of the outside patio and upgraded food and drink options is something we have been discussing for some time now. We are excited to open the season with these enhancements."
The Pavilion Patio will also feature an additional entrance into the game. Fans with tickets can scan their ticket to the patio and enter the Pavilion through the south doors, creating a second entrance to all games.
Fans are allowed to purchase food and drinks at all concession stands and return to their seats. The only restriction is in the student-section, where no beer or wine is allowed.
