WSOC | Gaels Wrap Up Season Against Dons

Saint Mary's will play their final match of the season on Saturday as they travel across the Bay Bridge to San Francisco.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — In their final match of the season, Saint Mary's will remain in the Bay Area and play San Francisco at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

More information and links to live streams can be found by visiting the Gaels' schedule page.

The Gaels currently hold a 7-9-2 record (2-5-1 WCC) going into Saturday's match against USF and look to earn their third conference win to conclude the season. In their last time out, Saint Mary's snapped a five-game skid with a 2-1 road win over Pacific. Jaylen Crim scored the game-winning goal in the match for SMC and now leads the team in points with 11.

In goal, Maleah Milner has racked up 75 saves in 17 games played this season and has recorded a total of four shutouts for the Gaels. She collected five saves in the victory against the Tigers.

A win on Saturday would mark the most wins Travis Clarke has had at the helm of the Gaels since taking over the program over three years ago. Clarke's teams won seven games in both 2015 and 2017.

ABOUT SAN FRANCISCO
The Dons own a 10-7-2 (3-3-2 WCC) record this season but have dropped their last two matches against San Diego and BYU. San Francisco has fared much better at home than on the road this season with a 6-2-1 mark at Negoesco Stadium.

Despite being seventh in the conference standings, USF has scored the third most goals this year in the WCC and has a dynamite scorer in Samantha Jehnings. The redshirt junior has tallied 11 goals this season for the Dons, making her fourth in the WCC. Senior Miciah Madison has also been instrumental in the attacking half with a WCC-leading 11 assists.

Saint Mary's owns an 19-10-1 all-time record against San Francisco, although the Dons have matched up well against SMC in the past few seasons. USF has won the last four contests between the teams, including last year's showdown in Moraga which resulted in a 3-2 overtime win.
