The Gaels had a strong second day of competition at the Saint Mary's Invitational and sits in eighth place at the end of the day.
POPPY HILLS, Calif. — On the second day of competition at the Saint Mary's Invite, the Gaels held strong at eighth place among 18 teams, and had four players within the top 50 as they head into the third day of the tournament.
THE LEADERBOARD
BYU was in the top spot on Tuesday and had a solid lead over the rest of the competition at the end of the day. The Cougars combined for a 19-under score, with the second place team being Pepperdine with a 5-under and Arizona with a 3-under.
Saint Mary's sits in eighth place out of 18 teams with a score of 9-over after two days of play. The Gaels are in a tight race with San Jose State (+7) and Colorado State (+6), but Oregon State is also close behind with an 11-over.
The top performer for Saint Mary's on day 2 was Blake Hathcoat, who sits tied for 11th place with a 1-under score. Peter Kuest (BYU) remains in first play with a 12-under, but Hathcoat is within two of the third place competitor Craig Ronne from Oregon. Other Gaels within the top-50 are Ryan Grauman who is tied for 29th (+2) and Ethan Ashbrook and Ethan Farnam who are both tied (+4).
