

VB | Gaels Net Four on WCC All-Academic Team

MORAGA, Calif. — After landing three on the All-WCC team one week ago, Saint Mary's Women's Volleyball earned four spots on the 2019 WCC All-Academic Team, announced Wednesday from the conference office.
All-Academic Team:
Kelsey Knudsen – 3.89 GPA – Business Administration
Knudsen was one of three Gaels to appear in every set during the 2019 season, and led the team in digs with 365, an average of 3.44 per set. She played some of her best volleyball at the end of the season when she tallied 10+ digs in 14 of the final 15 matches. She also added 94 assists and 15 aces from the line.
Sienna Young – 3.73 GPA – Business Administration
Young finished 2019 third on the Gaels in kills with 210, while also combining on a total of 73 blocks, also third on the squad. This comes after she was on fire to end the regular season, where she picked up 34 kills across three matches, and combined for 16 blocks, including ten in the finale against San Francisco. Young received "honorable mention" honors in 2018.
Honorable Mention:
Jennifer "Boo" Laird – 3.68 GPA - Psychology and Business Administration
On the list for the second-consecutive season, Laird wrapped up her junior season with 98 kills and 56 total blocks, while finishing third on the Gaels in blocks per set. For the year, Laird attacked at a 19.4% clip.
Aubrey Pitts – 3.64 GPA - Business Administration
Pitts was named to the All-WCC Team for her outstanding redshirt-senior season. The Reno native had a hitting percentage of 29.6% while picking up 125 kills and leading the Gaels with 18 solo blocks, 106 assisted blocks, and 124 total blocks.
