MORAGA, Calif. — The Gaels will play their last home game of the month as they look to host the Cal Poly Mustangs on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's hosted the Thanksgiving Classic last week and picked up a win and a loss during the tournament. In their first game of the Classic, Saint Mary's fell to Marquette 77-63 after keeping it close with the Golden Eagles during the whole game. Junior Emily Codding was dominant for the Gaels in the contest and scored a season-high, team-leading 20 points. In Saturday's matchup it was SMC that took the win against Western Kentucky (80-73) in overtime in the final game of the tournament. The Gaels spent a majority of the contest in the lead against the Hilltoppers and despite a late comeback in the fourth quarter from WKU, it was Saint Mary's who locked it down in the end to get the win. As it was the first time The Gaels and the Hilltoppers had met in program history, Saint Mary's now holds the 1-0 record over Western Kentucky.

GAELS FROM THE THREE
SMC improved their shooting from beyond the arc to 36 percent last weekend as well as brought their field goal percentage to 43 percent. Saint Mary's is now ranked 49th in the nation and second in the conference in three-point field goal percentage. Codding is currently leading the team with an individual three-point percentage of 42.3, while sophomore Sam Simons is close behind at 38.1 percent. Sophomore Taycee Wedin has made the most treys this season (22) and is currently third on the team in three-point field-goal percentage (37.3). The Gaels made a season-high, 44 attempts from the three-point line against Western Kentucky, surpassing their previous record of 34 attempts in the matchup against NC State. SMC leads the WCC in most three-point field goals attempted (193), made (69), and per game (9.9).

CAL POLY
The Mustangs are 2-5 so far this season after they opened the year on a three-game losing streak. Cal Poly most recently took down Lamar in a nail-biting 57-56 victory to claim their second win of the season. The Mustangs spent most of the matchup behind Lamar until they outscored the Cardinals 22 to 12 in the final quarter of action. The team has yet to win a game on the road this year as they have lost all three contests on opponents' courts including their most recent loss to Arizona on November 24. Cal Poly went 6-21 during the 2018-19 season and ended the year in last place in the Big West Conference.

Freshman Abbey Ellis and redshirt junior Sierra Campisano are leading the Cal Poly offense this season as Ellis is averaging 15.4 points per contest and Campisano is shooting 41.8 percent from the field (15.1 points per game). Ellis is also leading the team in steals (9) and assists (29) through their first seven contests. Campisano is averaging a team-high, 8.4 rebounds per matchup with a total of 59 on the year thus far. The team as a whole is shooting 42.0 percent this season and they are averaging 55.1 points a game. The Mustangs have yet to score more than 66 points in a contest this season.
