MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's women's basketball team took home more awards Tuesday morning with three players being named to the 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District team. The three selections included
Kennedy Johnson,
Maia Jones and
Abigail Shoff as they were rewarded for their success on the court and in the classroom.
Kennedy Johnson was arguably the team's best two-way player, averaging 12.0 points and a team high 5.8 rebounds per game. She also led the Gaels with a pair of double-doubles on the year and recorded a career high 15 boards in the quarterfinals of the WCC Tournament against Pacific. Johnson concluded her collegiate career as the 2025 WCC Newcomer of the Year and an Honorable Mention selection.
Johnson recorded a 3.58 GPA in the fall and will graduate from Saint Mary's in the spring with a degree in Business Administration.
Maia Jones took a huge leap in her sophomore season, leading the team in scoring, averaging 12.1 points and shooting 37% from three-point range. Jones recorded five 20-point games on the season to lead all players and recorded a season high 28 points in a wild overtime win over UC San Diego. Jones was also named to the All-WCC team as an Honorable Mention selection, her second all-conference selection of her SMC career.
Maia Jones earned a 3.75 GPA while majoring in Communications at Saint Mary's.
Abigail Shoff played in all 31 games in her first season as a Gael after transferring from Long Beach State. Shoff quickly stepped into the team's starting lineup as a versatile two-way player with great athleticism. Shoff averaged a career high 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 47% from the field. She put up a career high 19 points, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range in a 73-87 defeat to San Francisco earlier in the season.
Shoff led the team with a 3.78 GPA as a Kinesiology major here at Saint Mary's.

Academic Eligibility Criteria:
Academic eligibility minimums: An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.
Athletic Requirements:
Basketball student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the total number of institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's total number of games played.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 16, 2025.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
