MORAGA, Calif. – The Gaels picked up a happy homecoming gift on Sunday, defeating Army by the score of 5-2.
SMC picked up a victory in No. 1 doubles as Damon Kesaris and James Watt took down their opponent 6-2. However, the Gaels ultimately lost the doubles point to the Black Knights as Army won in the second and third positions.
Trailing 1-0 as the match switched to singles, Saint Mary's had to take the long way to victory which began with wins from Kesaris, James Watt, and Abhishek Bastola in the first through third spots in the lineup. Kesaris defeated his opponent in straight sets as did Daniel Krutik and David Abfalter in fifth and sixth singles.

SMC will head to Provo to face their first West Coast Conference opponent of the spring on February 16 at 2:00 p.m.
