Ryan Grauman had the best round on the opening day in Stanford.
STANFORD, Calif. — No. 47 Saint Mary's had a tough start to begin The Goodwin on Thursday as the team sits in 20th of 27 teams after the first round. 
THE LEADERBOARD
Ryan Grauman had the best opening round for the Gaels as he shot 1-over on the day to finish tied for 25th. The freshman had eight pars on the front 9 and both of his birdies on the back nine.
Ethan Ashbrook and Blake Hathcoat both shot 4-over during the first round. Ethan Farnam was 7-over on the day while Michael Slesinski rounded out the Gaels at 10-over.
Washington leads all teams after 18 holes with a combined 2-under score. Following closely behind is the host No. 31 Stanford (1-under) while No. 6 USC and No. 11 Cal are eight strokes back of the Huskies.
Colorado's Daniel O'Loughlin, Santa Clara's Derek Ackerman, and Stanford's David Snyder co-lead the individual field with scores of 3-under. Rounding out the top-6 are BYU's Peter Kuest and Washington's Noah Woolsey and Jan Schneider who are one stroke back.
