Saint Mary's will hit the road on Thursday to compete in The Goodwin for a three-day tournament in a field of 26 teams.
PALO ALTO, Calif. — No. 47 Saint Mary's will travel to Stanford on Thursday to compete in The Goodwin tournament hosted by the Cardinal. The tournament will cover a three-day span with a single round each day.
The tournament will be played at Stanford Golf Course and the action tees off on Thursday with the first round beginning at 7:30 a.m. The second round on Friday and the third round on Saturday will also begin at 7:30 a.m.
THE FIELD
The 26-team field boasts 13 top-50 teams including Saint Mary's (47). Completing the top-50 are Oklahoma (6), USC (7), Cal (11), Pepperdine (15), SMU (17), BYU (28), Stanford (31), UNLV (32), Florida (37), Oregon (39), Northwestern (45), and Arizona (46).
Colorado, UC Davis, George Washington, McNeese State, Nebraska, Nevada, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Toledo, Villanova, and Washington will also be competing in the three-day tournament.
THE LINEUP
Representing the Gaels at the tournament will be Blake Hathcoat, Michael Slesinski, Ethan Ashbrook, Ryan Grauman, and Ethan Farnam. Thursday's lineup will feature the same Gaels that were utilized in the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic where they placed third as a team.
THE COURSE FORMAT
54-holes will be played, with 18 played each day beginning on Thursday and concluding on Saturday.
Stanford Golf Course is configured to play a long par 70 at 6,758 yards.
LAST TIME OUT
In their most recent tournament at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic, Saint Mary's earned a third place finish at 4-under in the field of 15. Blake Hathcoat had his best collegiate performance during the classic as he placed tied for first at 6-under to lead the Gaels. The junior recorded a 68 in the final round, which is just one stroke back of his season best.
Michael Slesinski also placed in the top-10 for SMC after landing a tied for eighth finish at 1-under with a total round score of 215. The finish for the redshirt-sophomore was the second time this season he placed in the top-10.
