HOW IT HAPPENED

After a scoreless first half, Saint Mary's set the tone in the fifth inning after scoring three runs then tacking on three more in the sixth to secure the shutout victory over Pacific.

Kalissa Heihn got the scoring started as she recorded a single to right field while Kimiko Zapanta followed suit with a bunt single to advance Heihn to third. Due to a throwing error by the catcher, Heihn would go on to the first run of the game. After Jayda Alaan drew a walk, Lotz tallied a single to right field to advance Alaan to third and bring home Zapanta while Nikki Alexander then drew a bases-loaded walk to chase Alaan home to cap off the inning.

The Gaels carried their momentum into the sixth inning as they collected three more runs to claim the 6-0 lead. Lotz earned her second RBI of the game off a hit by pitch with the bases loaded to score Linton. Alaan would go on to tally the fifth run off a throwing error which allowed Zapanta to score right after for the sixth.

Saint Mary's made a strong comeback in the seventh inning as the Gaels scored three runs to take the lead over the Tigers. Kalissa Heihn notched her third double of the season to immediately advance to third off a fielding error then later scored as Dylan Linton hit a single down the left field line to bring Heihn home.
