In the first of three games against North Texas (23-12) this weekend, Saint Mary's (7-24) collected three hits in the game, but were unable to overcome the Mean Green on Friday as North Texas secured the 8-0 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
North Texas added runs to the board early as the Mean Green put up a run in the first inning followed by three in the second. After Saint Mary's held North Texas from scoring in the third and fourth innings, the Mean Green scored four in the fifth to clinch the win.
Harley Perella led the Mean Green's efforts as she went 3-for-4 and scored three runs, which is good for most on the team. The Mean Green totaled 11 hits on the day, including two home runs by Rhylie Makawe.
Saint Mary's was led by Abbey Mariani as she recorded her fourth double of the season in the second inning. Halle Sullivan and Dylan Linton each collected a single during the game while Linton also drew a walk. Jaymee Campbell tallied the second walk of contest during her lone at bat of the game. The Gaels also had only three strikeouts as a team during the game.
Sofia Earle started in the circle for the Gaels and only gave up one walk in 1.1 innings pitched. Eryn McCoy would then enter the game to pitch the next 3.1 innings and recorded three strikeouts.
