Saint Mary's will travel to Berkeley on Wednesday to face Cal before hosting the WCC opener against the Broncos for a three-game set this weekend.

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (7-26) will stay close to home this week as they will travel to Berkeley on Wednesday to play a single non-conference game against Cal before hosting the West Coast Conference opener in a three-game set against WCC opponent, Santa Clara, this weekend.

The Gaels will look to face off against the Broncos in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. followed by a single contest on Sunday at noon. Live stats and more information can be found on the Gaels' schedule page.

ABOUT CAL
The Bears are going into Wednesday's game with a 21-18 record and are 1-10 in the Pacific-12. Last weekend, Cal was swept by Washington as they dropped all three games on their home field. Cal managed to put up two runs in the second game of the series, but it was not enough to overcome the Huskies.

With a .434 batting average, infielder Lindsey Rood leads the team with 59 hits and also owns a .477 on-base percentage. The seniors batting average is good for third in the conference. Mikayla Coelho follows close behind as she holds a .457 on-base percentage with seven home runs and 29 scored runs for the Bears.

Kamalani Dung has led the Bears in the circle this season as she holds a 9-7 record with a 2.34 ERA in 98.2 innings pitched. The senior has recorded 106 strikeouts and four shutouts in 22 game appearances. Zoe Conley and Alexandra Perez have also each tallied two shutouts this year.

ABOUT SANTA CLARA
The three-game series this weekend against Saint Mary's will also be the conference opener for the Broncos. Santa Clara holds a 8-25 overall record as they recently suffered a four-game loss in the Seattle Round Robin tournament.

Infielder Eleni Spirakis is Santa Clara's best bat this year with a .355 batting average with 107 at-bats. Spirakis owns a .434 on-base percentage with 38 hits and two home runs. As a team, the Broncos have scored 111 runs and five home runs with a .258 batting average.

Regan Dias has pitched 68.0 innings for the Broncos as she owns a 5-8 record with a 4.74 ERA. The freshman has recorded 27 strikeouts while giving up just 34 walks.

Santa Clara will look to host Stanford on Tuesday prior to traveling to Moraga to take on the Gaels.
