GOLF | Gaels to Compete in ASU Thunderbird Tournament

Saint Mary's will hit the road on Friday to play in the two-day ASU Thunderbird tournament in a field of 13 teams.
PHOENIX, Ariz. — No. 50 Saint Mary's will look to return to action as they will travel to Arizona to compete in the ASU Thunderbird on Friday and Saturday.
Hosted by Arizona State, the tournament will be played at Papago Golf Course and the action tees off on Friday, April 12 with the first two rounds beginning at
THE FIELD
There will be 13 teams participating in this year's field while 11 of the programs are inside the top-50 Golfstat rankings including: Oklahoma State (1), Texas (7), North Carolina (22), Baylor (24), ASU (30), BYU (32), UNLV (33), UCLA (39), Marquette (41), Iowa State (43), and Saint Mary's (50).
Rounding out the field are No. 72 Utah and No. 79 Colorado. Saint Mary's will be the lone team from the West Coast Conference competing in the tournament.
THE LINEUP
The Gaels lineup will consist of Blake Hathcoat, Michael Slesinski, Ryan Grauman, Ethan Ashbrook, and Ethan Farnam.
All five Gaels have played 27 holes this season across nine tournaments.
THE COURSE FORMAT
54-holes will be played, with 36 played on Friday, April 12th, and the final 18 holes on Saturday.
Papago Golf Course is configured to play a long par 71 at 7,333 yards.
LAST TIME OUT
In their last tournament, the Gaels finished tied for 21st among a talent-loaded 27 team field at The Goodwin hosted by Stanford. Blake Hathcoat led Saint Mary's throughout the tournament as he placed tied for 29th out of 135 competitors at 1-over.
During the tournament, Ryan Grauman had eight straight pars from holes 10 to 17 while Hathcoat was fifth in pars over all three rounds with 38.
