SB | Gaels Host San Diego for Final Series of Regular Season

Saint Mary's will host the San Diego Toreros this weekend for their final three-game set of the regular season.

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (12-36, 5-7 WCC) will host their final three-game series of the season this weekend as they will take on the San Diego Toreros in a single contest on Friday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.

Saturday's doubleheader against the Toreros will also be Senior Day where Saint Mary's will honor the team's three seniors, Abbey Mariani, Dylan Linton, and Bailey Lotz.

ABOUT SAN DIEGO
The Toreros have a 19-27 overall record with a 3-9 conference record as they were recently swept by Santa Clara in a three-game set. San Diego collected eight runs over the span of the series including a homerun in the second contest, but it was not enough to overcome the Broncos.

Shortstop Sara Silveyra owns the best bat on the team as she has recorded 44 hits with a .344 batting average and a .422 on-base percentage. Fifteen of the juniors' 44 hits have been doubles, which is good for best in the conference. Silveyra ranks second in the conference in RBI's as she has notched 28 of them this year.

Outfielder Taylor Spence has also led the Toreros this season as she has a .331 batting average and a .423 on-base percentage. Spence has scored 30 runs for San Diego and has swiped eight of the teams' 18 total stolen bases.

Delaney Heller leads USD in the circle as she owns a 10-10 overall record with a 4.19 ERA in 105.1 innings pitched. The junior has recorded two shutouts this season and has struck out 77 batters while only giving up 25 walks.

LAST TIME OUT
In their last three-game series against BYU, Saint Mary's dropped the first two games, but made an impressive comeback in the third as Eryn McCoy recorded a complete game shutout after the Gaels scored two runs to take the victory. McCoy didn't allow any walks in the contest and scattered seven hits.

Jayda Alaan and Mariani each put SMC on the board as they each recorded a single to bring home both Nikki Alexander and Linton. Mariani and Linton led the team's offense during the contest as they each went 2-for-3.
