MTEN | Gaels Fall to Aggies, Anteaters Over Weekend

Box Score 1 MORAGA, Calif. — The Gaels took on two more Big West opponents over the weekend but dropped both matches by the same score.

Against the Aggies on Saturday, the Gaels fell 6-1. Saint Mary's was able to take the doubles point with wins on Courts 2 and 3, but wound up dropping all six singles matches.

Matis Bot and Karlo Divkovic earned the first doubles win with a 6-2 showing against Volgin/Landa and then Felipe Rincon and Abhishek Bastola sealed the point with a close 7-6 victory as the No. 3 seed.

In singles action, top-seeded James Watt was edged in three sets, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.

On Sunday against the Anteaters, Saint Mary's put up a fight but lost by the same score.

In doubles, Rincon and Bastola earned a win on Court 3 to tie up the doubles matches score, but UCI would edge out the Gaels in the final match, 7-6 to claim the point.

Bot won two close sets to earn another singles win but that would be the only match SMC would take. Andy Watterson and Bastola were narrowly defeated in three set matches with their final set coming down to 7-6 and 7-5 scores, respectively.

Saint Mary's next match comes at home on Saturday against Nevada. First serve is set for noon.
