GOLF | Gaels Finish Middle of Pack at Lamkin Grips

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Saint Mary's posted their best round of the tournament on the final day of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic to finish tied for 10th in the 19-team field.
THE LEADERBOARD
The Gaels recorded a 286 round on Tuesday which was two strokes better than their middle round score. SMC tied with No. 42 Ole Miss and finished a few spots ahead of No. 11 Arizona who came in 15th.
Michael Slesinski was a big reason for the team's success in the final round as he shot a 6-under par 66. That 18-hole score tied for the lowest of any of the 99 competitors in any round and boosted him 28 spots on the medalist leaderboard to finish t-14th at 1-under overall.
Following closely behind Slesinski was Ethan Farnam who finished even and t-21st. Ryan Grauman tied for 34th in his first tournament this spring at 3-over, Blake Hathcoat was 8-over, and Dylan VanderVeer was 22-over.
No. 37 Tennessee shot 8-under in the final round to win the tournament while San Francisco's Tim Wilding earned medalist honors by shooting 3-under for a 8-under tournament total.

Saint Mary's will have a few weeks off before heading to Stanford for The Goodwin from Mar. 26-27.

- All five Gaels birdied the 485 yard par 4 14th.
- SMC was 5-under on the back 9 to begin today's round.
- The Gaels tied for third on par 3's with a 12-over team score.
Saint Mary's will have a few weeks off before heading to Stanford for The Goodwin from Mar. 26-27.
