GOLF | Gaels Remain Steady at Southwestern Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — Saint Mary's remains in 10th place after two rounds at the Southwestern Invitational at North Ranch Country Club in Southern California. The tournament concludes tomorrow with the third and final round.

LEADERBOARD
With weather conditions playing much more favorably today, the Gaels improved their team score by 17 strokes from yesterday and were led once again by Ethan Ashbrook. The junior was 1-over on the day and is now 4-over in the event and tied for 23rd place on the leaderboard.

Dylan VanderVeer had another solid day for SMC shooting 2-over. Blake Hathcoat and Ethan Farnam each shot 4-over while Dylan De Prosperis was 6-over.

Arizona State remains on top of the team leaderboard and is 2-under after shooting 6-under today. The Sun Devils own a five stroke lead over second place Louisville heading into the final round. The host Pepperdine made the biggest jump on the leaderboard, four spots, after scoring a Tuesday-best 11-under team total.

ASU's David Puig leads all 66 competitors with an 8-under score through 36 holes. Only eight golfers are currently below-par in the tournament.

SECOND ROUND HIGHLIGHTS

Ashbrook had an eagle on the 493 yard par 5 6th. It was the Gaels' first eagle of the tournament.
Hathcoat had back-to-back birdies on holes 4 and 5.
Three Gaels had birdies on the 474 yard par 5 15th.
Farnam had three birdies on the front 9.
