MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary's College Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics
Mike Matoso announced today the promotion of
Tom Carroll to Deputy Athletics Director & Assistant Vice President Advancement and Athletics and
Caitlin Luquet to Assistant Athletics Director for Internal Operations & Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.
Â
Carroll was previously Senior Associate Athletics Director for Advancement since 2019. Carroll leads Athletic Development and all athletic fundraising, including annual giving, major and principal gifts, endowments and capital projects, while serving as the primary liaison from the Advancement Office to Athletics. He also serves as the sport supervisor for baseball and golf.
Â
"Tom has done an exceptional job with leading our fundraising efforts in the athletic department and I'm excited to announce his promotion to Assistant Vice President Advancement and Athletics & Deputy Athletics Director," Matoso said. "Last year, in a very difficult year of Covid, athletics had its best year in the history of the department, raising over $2.3 million in annual fundraising - this was a record by over 20% which was set two years prior. With this promotion, Tom will also start to oversee all of our major corporate campus relationships like our partnership with University Credit Union."
Â
Carroll was a baseball student-athlete for the Gaels and received his Bachelors of Arts degree in HPER: Sports Management in 2004 and a Masters of Art in HPER in 2007 from Saint Mary's College
Â
Luquet begins her fourth year with the Gaels, while previously holding the title of Assistant Athletics Director for Business and Internal Operations.
Â
"Caitlin has done a great job with taking over many of our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) efforts with both our entire department and partnering with the campus as a whole," Matoso said. "We felt like it was important to formalize her role and our efforts both within our department and throughout campus so I am very excited to announce her new title and duties. She continues to take on new responsibilities and make a huge impact within the department."
Â
Luquet attended Saint Mary's College and earned a Masters in Kinesiology in 2017, as well as a Master's in Education Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2014 and a Bachelor's degree in Visual Art from Curry College in Milton, Ma.
