GOLF | Hathcoat Paces Gaels at Lamkin Grips SD Classic

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Saint Mary's shot 12-over as a team in the first round of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic on Monday and will look to climb up the leaderboard tomorrow from their current 15th place.

THE LEADERBOARD
Blake Hathcoat was the team's strongest performer in the opening round with a 2-under total. The senior ended his round by shooting 2-under on the back 9 and is tied for 12th in the 112-man field.

Ethan Ashbrook finished the day 4-over and tied for 65th. Ethan Farnam and Michael Slesinski are both 5-over after 18 holes while Dylan VanderVeer rounded out the team's effort at 8-over.

The co-host San Diego leads the other 19 teams with a 5-under team total. No. 46 USC trails by two strokes while Nevada completed the day at 2-under. The Wolfpack's Sam Harned sits atop the medalist leaderboard at 5-under while four other competitors are just one stroke back.
