DAVIS, Calif. - Men's Soccer out shot UC Davis 12-9 but couldn't net a goal in the 3-0 loss on the road to the Aggies.
UC Davis struck first on a set piece in the 15th minute, when Preseason All-Big West selection Maximilian Arfsten gathered a crossing pass from the right and put a shot back that way across the goal for a 1-0 Davis lead.
The Gaels came out in attack mode to start the second half, with shots from
Riley Lynch,
Louis Sterobo, and
David Brog all in the first 15 minutes of the half. But the Aggies would take a 2-0 lead in the 68th minute with a shot from the left side of the box by the Rober Mejia.
Saint Mary's tried to answer, but shots by Bourdanne Ngonfor
,
Sebastian Schacht, and Sterobo in the following three minutes were all blocked.
Timothy Stephens and Ngonfor would gets shots on goal just a few minutes later but the Aggies keeper was up to the task.
The Aggies final goal came on a penalty shot after Arfsten drew a foul on
Brophy Howard in the box for the 3-0 final score.
