STANFORD, Calif. – The second day at the ITA Championships is in the books, which saw a handful of Gaels advance in the single's consolation bracket.
Lene Mari Hovda and
Jordan Harris once again got day 2 action underway, as they faced off against Stanford's Ana Geller and India Houghton. Despite a quick start from the Gaels duo, the Cardinal pair quickly ramped up the pressure, besting Hovda and Harris 8-4.
Olivia Rook bounced back in a big way, beating Seattle University's Mireia Fehr 6-4, 6-1. With a bye next round, Rook will next face Stefaniia Mikhailova of Washington State University in the round of 32.
Gabriela Tevez was another Gael with a great performance on Saturday, comfortably beating Seattle University's Jade Quintana 6-2, 6-1. Tevez is set to take on San Jose State's Carolina Milllan in the round of 32.
Sophomore
Stefanie Silva battled with University of San Francisco's Azaria Hayes. Hayes won the first set 6-1, before Silva bounced back to win the second set 6-4. Silva was unable to keep the momentum, as Hayes managed to win the tiebreak 10-4.
After her opponent pulled out,
Jamie Pope is set to take on San Jose State's Lara Marco Mas in the round of 32.
