PALO ALTO, Calif. – James Watt and Thibaud Maxant took on the top-ranked doubles tandem in the semifinals of the ITA Super Regionals, and came up just short in a loss on Sunday.
 
The Saint Mary's doubles team of Watt and Maxant battled the No. 1 combo of Quinn Vandecasteele and Joshua Charlton of Oregon to a 6-4, 6-1 loss.
 
Watt and Maxant defeated the No. 3 doubles team from the Stanford Cardinal in the quarterfinals, but couldn't quite take down No. 1 in the semis. It was a great showing for the new combo in 2022-23 for the Gaels, to not only qualify for the Super Regionals but advance to the semifinals.
