MORAGA, Calif. – A big week for senior
Madeline Holland in her final two regular season games as a Gael has led to her being named the Bay Alarm Student Athlete of the Week.
Â
Holland had 13 points and seven rebounds and five assists in the Gaels 83-67 win against Pacific on senior night, and 25 points with five rebounds and four assists in the 92-88 overtime win at San Francisco in the season finale.
Â
Not only did she put together some great stat lines in those two games, it was when she did her scoring and the clutch timing of her best plays that stand out for the Burlingame, Calif. native.
Â
She scored all of her 25 points against USF in the second half and overtime. Holland guided the Gaels back from a 13-point halftime deficit and sent the game into OT on a game-tying three pointer with 10 seconds left. She was the team's leading scorer in overtime and was a perfect 4 for 4 at the free throw line in the extra frame.
Â
Ten of her 13 points against Pacific were in the second half, playing a big part in the Gaels securing the victory as Saint Mary's was up by just four points at halftime.
Â
On the season Holland averaged 11.7 ppg, 5.3 rbg, and a whopping 92% free throw percentage. Women's Basketball begins play in the WCC Conference Tournament this Friday at 12:00 p.m. in Las Vegas against either LMU or Pepperdine.
