HENDERSON, Nev. – Saint Mary's Golf finished eighth of 14 teams at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate with freshman Connor Reis climbing into the top 15 at 13th overall.
The Gaels as a whole and fifth-year senior Dylan VanderVeer still finished fourth overall in par threes, but it was the par fives that gave them trouble while finishing in the middle of the pack in par fours. SMC was still fourth in birdies in the tournament, buoyed by Michael Slesinski's nine birdies on day one and 17 over the three rounds to finish with the third most at the tournament.
Reis was eighth overall in par fours and was the lone Gael to make eagle in the tournament. He shot a 69 on the par 72 course on day one and three with a 74 in between to finish with a score of 212.
Slesinski still finished in the top 20 of 82 golfers at 16th overall with a 214, good for 2-under par overall. VanderVeer finished even on day three to finish with a 218.
UP NEXT
Saint Mary's will play closer to home at The Goodwin Invitational hosted by Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif. from March 24-26.
