MTEN | Road Matches at Portland and Gonzaga Up Next

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Men's Tennis will travel up north this week to compete against University of Portland on Friday and Gonzaga University on Saturday.

Friday, April 15, at 11:00 a.m.

Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center – Portland, Ore.

 

Saint Mary's at Gonzaga University (15-4)

Saturday, April 16, at 12:00 p.m.

Stevens Center – Spokane, Wash.

 

LAST TIME OUT

Saint Mary's Men's Tennis had a strong showing at home against Pacific on Saturday afternoon as the Gaels beat the Tigers 4-1.

 

SMC came out of the gate hot, winning the doubles point in the first two matches to finish. The Caelan Potts and Felipe Rincon combo won again when they took down Coby Caig and Brandon Park 6-1, and James Watt and Boris Reckow defeated Peter Alam and Manroop Saini 6-4.

 

The Tigers did win one singles match but the Gaels still put the match away before the final two matches were needed to finish. Watt beat Aleska Mardjonovic 6-1, 6-4, Carlos Ramos Membrives defeated Liam Puttergill 6-2, 6-2, and Thibaud Maxant won 6-2, 6-2 over McCaig.

 

ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF PORTLAND

Holding a solid 5-0 record at home, the Pilots continue to lock it down on their home court this 2022 season. In their more recent matches, University of Portland held high hopes against No.22 Pepperdine after earning a comeback win at LMU prior, but the Pilots dropped to the Waves 4-1 after a hard fought match on the road. The Pilots are now 3-3 in WCC play.

 

ABOUT GONZAGA

Gonzaga remains undefeated in Spokane, Wash. with a 9-0 overall home record. More than half of their total wins have consisted in full sweeps, earning a 15-4 overall record so far this season. Two Bulldogs have earned impressive winning streaks in singles, Oliver Andersson with a six game winning streak, and Tom Hann with nine.
