STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Saint Mary's Golf had a strong showing on day one of their first ever Rutherford Invitational hosted by Penn State. The Gaels finished the first two rounds in third place of 14 teams and with two players in the top six of 78 golfers.
 
Freshmen Mitchell Hoey and Kristian Bressum are atop the leaderboard for the Gaels. Hoey is tied for second at 3-under par, is third in par fours, and has made an eagle. Bressum is sixth overall at 1-under par and he and Dylan VanderVeer have the sixth-most pars made.  
 
Saint Mary's is second in par threes and first in par fours and pars made overall. Freshman Connor Reis finished the first two rounds even on par threes.
 
Round three is scheduled to begin for the Gaels at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, but there is an expectation of a frost delay.
