FRIDAY FIVE – April 29

FRIDAY FIVE presents five facts about Saint Mary's teams that are in action, with things to look forward to during the upcoming week.

1. SENIOR SEND-OFF
Saint Mary's Softball honors its senior class on Sunday in the final game of a three-game series against Pacific. This weekend is the final weekend series of the 2022 season for Saint Mary's, which is the final chance for fans to see Maddie Gallagher, Jayda Alaan, Alyssa Vessel, and Sofia Earle in action. The 2022 home schedule concludes next week with a single game against Stanford on Wednesday afternoon.

2. MORE TIGERS
Softball isn't the only team playing Pacific this weekend, as Saint Mary's Baseball heads to Stockton for three games against the Tigers. This is the beginning of a crucial stretch for the Gaels, who are 3.5 games back of a playoff spot with three WCC series remaining on the schedule. Pacific sits in last place in the conference standings, giving the Gaels a great chance to make up some ground.

3. LIVE UPDATE
West Coast Conference championship play is underway for both Saint Mary's Golf and Beach Volleyball. Golf is through two rounds of tournament play and currently sits in seventh place overall with Christian Bressum just three strokes back of the top-10. Beach Volleyball beat San Francisco and lost to No. 16 Pepperdine, with the possibility of three matches on tap for Saturday's final day.

4. GAEL GOLF CLASSIC
Saint Mary's Athletics is pleased to announce the 43rd Annual Gael Golf Classic, presented by Chevron and Syufy Enterprises, is set for May 9 at the Moraga Country Club. The event sells out every year, so make sure you sign up as a foursome by heading to SMCGaels.com and clicking on the Gael Golf Classic banner. All proceeds from the event benefit the Galloping Gaels Fund.

5. GAEL AWARD SHOW
Saint Mary's Athletics will be hosting the 17th Annual Gael Award Show on May 11th inside University Credit Union Pavilion. This is a celebration of the student-athletes at Saint Mary's and their accomplishments throughout the 2021-22 school year. The event begins at 6:00 pm with a host of awards being given out, including Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Year and Male and Female Team Performances of the Year.
