MTEN | Gaels Host Tigers This Saturday

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Men's Tennis remains at home for another WCC matchup against University of The Pacific on Saturday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

Men's Tennis defeated Loyola Marymount University 4-1 on Friday afternoon and are now 2-2 against WCC competition.

 

The Gaels took the doubles point when the combination of James Watt and Boris Reckow beat Jose Dominiquez and Toky Ranaivo 6-4 and Mathis Moysan and Carlos Ramos Membrives defeated Austin Di Giulio and Emin Rolic 6-3.

 

Carlos Ramos Membrives defeated Di Giulio to start the singles competition 6-1, 6-2 to jump out to a 2-0 lead. LMU got a singles win in the second match to finish to make it 2-1, but Caelan Potts took down John Otico 7-6, 6-4 and Mathis Moysan beat Dane Esses in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 to seal the win for the Gaels

 

Followed by another at home competition the very next day, Saint Mary's Men's Tennis wasn't able to upset the No. 20 Pepperdine Waves on Saturday as Pepperdine won 4-0.

 

SMC tied up the doubles portion at 1-1 after Felipe and Rincon and Caelan Potts defeated Enrique Rico Luque and Tim Zeitvogel 6-4 before the Waves would eventually take the doubles point. But it would take a 7-3 tiebreaker to prevent James Watt and Boris Reckow from clinching the doubles point for the Gaels in a 7-6 loss.

 

ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC

Coming off of their first WCC matchup win against Loyola Marymount University, the Pacific Tigers are fired up in hopes of keeping this momentum going. This away matchup is going to be a challenge for the Tigers for they have yet to clinch a win on the road so far this season. Sophomore Tiger, Ran Amar is holding it down for Pacific with an overall record of 12-3 in singles, and remains undefeated in conference competitions.
