Saint Mary's began their season on the front foot, winning their first two games of the season against two tough opponents in Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara. The freshmen carried the load for the Gaels against the Mustangs, will all three SMC goals coming from the newcomers. Cal Poly managed to get on the board, but the Gaels comfortably held on for a 3-1 win.

The Gaels put up a defensive clinic against Santa Barbara, holding the Gauchos scoreless after
Emily Jensen put Saint Mary's on the score sheet just six minutes into the contest. Jensen's early goal was all the Gaels needed as they bested the Gauchos 1-0.

About Cal
The Bears come to Saint Mary's Stadium on Thursday following a 1-0 loss against UC Irvine in their first game of the season. Cal finished last season with an 8-7-3 overall record and a 4-6-1 conference record. When the two teams met last season, their contest ended in double overtime with a 1-1 draw. The Gaels played a player-down from the 72
nd minute on, and were able to hold the feisty Bears to a well-earned draw. All-time the Bears have a 17-8-5 record against the Gaels.

The Spartans host the Gaels Sunday after losing their first game of the season to #5 ranked Santa Clara 1-0. Last season, San Jose State finished with an overall record of 7-11-1 and a conference record of 4-6-1. The Spartans are 4-9-1 all-time against the Gaels, and when the two last met in 2017, San Jose State won the contest 1-0.
