PALO ALTO, Calif - Saint Mary's Women's Tennis took on day one of the ITA Regional Championship hosted by Stanford on Friday.
The Gaels started off day one in the main open doubles with TianYu Dong and
Juliette Daries beating Eastern Washington's Jennifer Kida and Anait Arutiunian 8-2. The duo is set to play Melissa Lamette and Romane Mosse from Cal Poly on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
SMC continued with the main open singles as two Gaels moved on to the round of 64.
Sofia Daryaie won in three sets against Eastern Washington's Isabella Foshee. Foshee won the first set 6-3 and Daryaie won the last two 7-6, 7-5. Daryaie continued on to the round of 64 where she fell short against Emma Sun from Stanford University, 6-2, 6-0.
Daries won in the third set for the Main open singles against Romane Mosse from Cal Poly. She took the first set 7-6, Mosee took the second 7-5, and Daries finished hard with a 6-3 win. Daries competed in the round of 64 where she faced Dariya Detkovskaya from the University of Washington with a 6-3 and 6-0 loss.
The duo of
Madison Weekley and
Olivia Rook fell short in the main open doubles to Scout Matthews and Foshee from Eastern Washington with a score of 8-4. Daryaie and
Stefanie Silva put up a fight against University of Berkeley Cami Brown and Lan Mi where the Gaels lost 8-7 (6).
Jaime Pope competed in the main open singles and lost to Mao Mushika from Cal Berkeley 6-1, 6-1.
Stefanie Silva fought in the open singles where she lost 6-1, 6-2, to Connie Ma from Stanford University.
Olivia Rook won the first set against San Jose State Duru Durgu 6-4, and fell short in the last two sets 6-3, 6-3. Dong also competed against San Jose State, where she faced Adriana Jimenez Casado. Casado defeated Dong in two sets with a score of 6-3 in both.
