Paradise Island, Bahamas — With bad weather out of the way, the Saint Mary's golf team had a picturesque day during the second round of the Whites Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational Saturday morning at the Ocean Club Golf Course. The Gaels shot a 10-under 278 as a team to move into fourth place for the tournament.
Freshman Jack Jerge came out hot, reaching six-under par at one point during the round, before finishing with a 4-under 68. Jerge has seven birdies, including a stretch of three birders in a row on the back nine. Overall, Jerge is tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard at 6-under following two rounds.
"It was a pretty solid round for the most part," Jerge said. "There was a stretch where I was feeling a rhythm and was able to score and make some putts."
Connor Reis and Kristian Bressum each shot a 3-under par 69 in the second round. Reis had four birdies and one bogey on the scorecard, while Bressum had five birders and two bogeys.
The Gaels started on the back nine and made some early birdies, to carry the momentum for most of the round. At one point on the day, the Gaels got to 20-under as a team, but a couple bogeys down the stretch leave them sitting at 17-under going into the final round on Sunday.
On the individual side, senior Zack Missigman shot a 1-over 73, but finished even on his final nine holes of the day.
The Gaels return to the course Sunday morning with an 8 a.m. (EST) shotgun start for the final of the tournament.
