Paradise Island, Bahamas — Heading into Sunday's final round at the White Sands Bahamas NCAA Invitational, Saint Mary's golf knew they would have to put up a low team score in order to have a chance to win the tournament at the Ocean Club Golf Course.

The Gaels did just that, shooting a program-record 22-under par 266 to finish the tournament 39-under par. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough as Santa Clara shot 19-under and won the tournament. Saint Mary's finished third overall, two strokes behind North Texas and six behind the Broncos.

Individually Connor Reis led the way, shooting a 10-under 62, with no bogeys and 10 birdies in his final round. It was Reis' second round of 62 this fall.

The 62 for Reis put him right atop the individual leaderboard as well, finishing 14-under for the three rounds. Reis finished in second place, just one shot off the individual title, won by Gareth Steyn who finished 15-under par. The importance of this individual title was magnified as the winner earns a PGA Tournament Sponsors Exemption for the Puerto Rico Open in March.

"We knew we had to come out and make a lot of birdies today. Fortunately, I was hitting some quality shots and sinking some putts," Reis said. "The conditions were perfect to score in and we took advantage of that."

Kristian Bressum continued his strong play all week on Sunday, finishing with a 5-under 67, and finishing in 11th overall, shooting 9-under on the week. Freshman Jack Jerge was 3-under today and tied Bressum for 11th overall at 9-under for the tourney.

Sunday's round saw sophomore Aidan Lee play his best round of the tournament, shooting a 4-under 68, including five birdies and one bogey.

"It felt good to get into a nice rythym out there today," Lee said. "We wanted to put up a low score early and put some pressure on the other teams."

On the individual side, senior Zack Missigman shot a final round 6-under 66 on Sunday, including seven birdies and one bogey.

Sunday's round wrapped up the fall tournament season for the Gaels. Saint Mary's will prepare for the spring schedule which kicks off on January 29 in Arizona.
