WTEN | Duos and Singles move on to Day Two

MORAGA, Calif. - The Gaels hosted day one of the SMC Fall Invite where all duos move on to the quarterfinals and multiple singles continue to day two. 
 
Juliette Daries and Tian Yu Dong have been the duo for SMC this fall season. Daries and Dong competed against USF duo Hana Gamracy and Katerina Filip and won 6-2 in the Blue draw. 
 
For the Gaels, Stefanie Silva and Olivia Rook competed in the Red doubles, beating University of the Pacific Zara Fung and Leyanne Hirota 6-1. 
 
In the Red doubles for SMC, Jamie Pope and Madison Weekley defeated University of California Davis duo Madeleine Page and Mika Ikemori 7(7)-6(5). All duos will be competing tomorrow, October 28th at 9:00 a.m.
 
Rook battled Varvara-Maryia Zlotnik from Santa Clara University and took her to a third set in the Red singles. Rook came out on top, moved on to the round of 16, won in the first and third set against University of California Davis Carly Schwartzberg 6-4, 6-4, 6-1. Rook will compete against San Jose State Duru Durgu tomorrow at 12:45 p.m.
 
Daries, in the Red singles, completed and conquered Santa Clara Kacey Feng 6-3, 6-4 and Sacramento State Warisara Lee 6-4, 6-1. Daries will face Jovana Babic from San Jose State, tomorrow at 12:45 p.m.
 
Weekley took Alyssa Tay from Stanislaus State to a third set beating her in the second and third, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1. She then competed against Page and won in two sets, 6-1, 6-2. Tomorrow, Weekley will take on University of California Berkeley Cami Brown at 1:15 p.m.
 
Pope competed in the White East draw where she took on Hirota and won, 6-1, 6-4, 6-0. Pope will compete against Grace McSkimming from Sacramento State tomorrow, October 28th at 1:45 p.m.
 
Competing in the Blue singles, Dong competed against Santa Clara University Jenna Gordan where she won, 6-3, 6-4. She qualified for the round of 16 where she took on Berta Passola Folch from Cal Berkeley. Dong took Passola Folch to a third set, where Dong fell short and lost 6-4, 6-3, 6-1. 
 
Silva defeated Ikemori in the Blue singles, 7(7)-6(3), 6-0 and qualified for the round of 16 where she lost to Lan Mi from University of California Berkeley 7-5, 6-3. The last Gael competing in the Blue singles was Sofia Daryaie where she was outlasted by Marie Tiziana Schomburg from University of California Berkeley 7(7)-6(2), 6-3.
