MORAGA, Calif. - Three Gaels singles players advanced on day two of the SMC Fall Invite, setting up a potential all-Saint Mary's finish on day three.
In the Red singles bracket Olivia Rook defeated San Jose State Duru Durgu in three sets 7(7)-6(5), 6-2, 6-3. Juliette Daries took on Jovana Babic also from San Jose State where Daries took both the second and third set, 6-4, 6-2, 6-1. Both Gaels, Rook and Daries will go head-to-head to compete in an all-Saint Mary's semi-final.
Madison Weekley took part in the Red singles where she defeated Cami Brown from University of California Berkeley in two sets, 6-4, 7-5. She will take on Azaria Hayes from University of San Francisco in the semifinals, setting up a potential all-Gael final as well.
Juliette Daries and TianYu Dong competed in the Blue doubles semifinals after their win yesterday, where they battled San Jose State duo Irena Muradyan and Cheuk Ying Shek. The Gaels came up short with a close 6-4 loss.
In the Red doubles bracket Stefanie Silva and Olivia Rook faced Carly Schwartzberg and Michelle Zell from University of California Davis in the semifinals. SMC fought hard and barely lost with a score of 6-4.
Jaime Pope competed in the White singles bracket where she was outlasted by Sacramento State's Grace McSkimming in three sets 6-2, 6-2, 7-5.
