SUNNYVALE, Calif. - SMC competed at Santa Clara earlier today, the women ran either the 5K or the 1K and the men ran the 8K.
The top three Gaels to finish the 5K were
Sydney Rome in second,
Ana Mercado in third, and
Michaela Martin in sixth. The team ended with a score of 30 points.
Only SMC competed in the 1K with
Jaden DeSouza taking it all for the Gaels with a time of 3:02.80. Five seconds later, Mercado crossed the finish line and took second.
Lotte Van Schaik finished in third with a time of 3:16.00.
Alexandra Davis-Libiano came in fourth, four seconds behind Van Schaik with a time of 3:20.70. The last Gael to round out the top five in this section was
Elizabeth Nip with a time of 3:23.20.
Five Gaels competed in the men's 8K with Alejandro Alvarez taking eighth place, as the first SMC competitor to finish with a time of 26:10.60.
Payton Fox was next in line for the Gaels, finishing in 15th with a time of 26:39.90. Taking up the 17th and 18th spots were
Jason Habash with a time of 26:56.20 and
Angel Castro with a time of 27:08.50. Rounding out the group of men was
Thomas Osborne, who finished with a time of 27:57.70.

The Gaels will compete at the NCAA West Region Championships Friday, November 10th in Sacramento.
