MORAGA, Calif. – Saint Mary's Men's Tennis went 2-0 at home over the weekend, defeating USF 4-1 and Santa Clara 4-3, bringing the Gaels to 2-1 in WCC play this season.
 
On Saturday USF came out of the gate taking the doubles point, but that would be all they would get against the Gaels who swept the singles competition.
 
SMC would only need two sets in all of their victories. Felipe Rincon got things started with a 6-4, 6-1 win, followed by Caelan Potts winning 6-3, 6-2, as did Carlos Ramos Membrives. Mathis Moysan would seal the win for the Gaels with a 7-5, 6-4 win in the closest match to finish on the day.
 
Sunday's win came down to the wire as the Gaels took down a Broncos squad that came into the match with a record of 9-6 overall.
 
Saint Mary's took the doubles point with a 6-4 win by Potts and Diego Jarry, and Felipe Rincon and Mathis Moysan's 7-6 victory.
 
The singles matches against the Broncos were just the opposite of how it went against the Dons, with the Gaels' losses coming in two sets and their wins taking the full three.
 
James Watt's match at the one spot would need to be finished this time, as he grinded out a 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 win over SCU's Arthur Neuhaus. Rincon would come back for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win, and again Moysan would come up big for the Gaels in a 6-1, 6-7, 6-1 win over the Broncos Mann Shah.
