Almanza Powers His Way to Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. – Christian Almanza's three-homer weekend earned him the Bay Alarm Student Athlete of the Week Award as voted on by the SMC staff.
Almanza went 3 for 7 over the weekend and all three hits were home runs. He hit two home runs on Friday and one on Saturday and is hitting .275 on the season.
The Stockton, Calif. native reached base all in all five plate on Sunday as well, as he was hit by a pitch in his first two plate appearances and walked in his other three times to the plate.
Almanza now has 11 home runs this season which is tied for second in the WCC. He is in the top 10 in runs scored, RBIs, slugging percentage, and extra base hits in the conference as well.
The senior's offensive output has helped the Gaels climb to a tie for third in the WCC standings, and they will host first-place LMU this weekend at Louis Guisto Field.
