LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's Baseball won the series finale against LMU by a score of 14-5 to improve to 10-8 in WCC play on Sunday, as they belted a season-high five home runs.

The Gaels salvaged game three to avoid the sweep, and even though the team may not be seeking moral victories, it was tightly contested series against the Lions who are 14-4 in WCC play, giving SMC confidence they can hang with the top team in the conference.

Game one went to the Lions in the 10th inning, and game two was tied 5-5 going into the ninth. In game three the Gaels struck with authority right from the get go and never took their foot off the pedal in the convincing win.

ABOUT CSU BAKERSFIELD
Saint Mary's is looking for a split with CSU Bakersfield after leading 3-2 going into the seventh inning in their previous meeting, before the Roadrunners came back to win 5-3.

Things would go sideways for the Gaels in the seventh when CSU Bakersfield scored two runs to take the lead without a hit. Connor Linchey had a magnificent start for SMC, going five innings and allowing just one run on two hits with no walks and one strikeout.

The Gaels went to their usually reliable reliever Jack Snook, who was uncharacteristically wild in that game. Unforced errors and stranding runners would prove to be the Gaels undoing on the day, as they were 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position and stranded nine runners.

ABOUT USF
USF's lineup returns its two leading run producers from a year ago as Harris Williams III drove in 45 runs hitting at the top of the Dons' batting order and playing all over the outfield, while Mario DeMera totaled 39 RBI and hit a time-high 13 doubles for the Dons while playing mostly third base for the team.

The program is now in the hands of first-year head coach Rob DiToma after spending the previous three seasons at Farleigh Dickinson University, where he was head coach of the Knights since June 2019.
