LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's took a brief hiatus from conference play with four non-conference games last week, including two at home against Sacramento State. The first two games of the week were high-scoring losses to Fresno State at their place before splitting the home doubleheader against the Hornets on May 5. Runs were at a premium all afternoon long, but the Gaels scored five runs in the first three innings of game one and used that to propel themselves to a 5-2 win. The roles were reversed in the second game as they fell 3-0 in shutout fashion to Sacramento State, after the Hornets used a strong pitching performance from Caroline Evans.

SENIOR SEND-OFF
Four seniors will be playing their final games at home this weekend: Alex Casas, Marissa Woolsey, Bry Waters, and Taylor Keinath. All four have played big roles in the program over the last four seasons, and all have had their moments to shine this year. Casas leads the team in runs batted in, while Keinath has been the team's leading hitter in conference play. Waters has been named to the All-WCC team in her career (2022), and Woolsey is ending her career strong with a 3.65 earned run average over her last 15.1 innings.

ABOUT BYU
In their final season in the West Coast Conference, BYU is once again making noise and aiming for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. They are 10-2 in conference play and to sweep the Gaels and have LMU lose twice to San Diego to claim the conference championship. Their only two losses in the WCC came to LMU, but they nearly dropped one at home against Pacific on May 5, winning 6-3 in nine innings. They will surely have a fair share of players on the All-WCC team come award season, led by Huntry Ava (.369/.467/.811, 14 home runs) and Kaysen Korth (17-7, 2.62 ERA).
