SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Another season of rowing is in the books, and the West Coast Conference has announced its Women's Rowing All-Academic team, with 13 Gaels included to the honorable mentions list.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team and in at least their second year at their school.
SMC Rowing are coming off another solid season on the water and a first under new head coach Brian Ebke. The team is full of leaders both in the boats and in the classroom, and their recognition to the honorable mentions list shows how important academic success is here at Saint Mary's.
At the WCC Championships at the beginning of the month, SMC finished 6
th overall for the second year running, but their rapid improvement in speed and times show promise for years to come.
For three Gaels included on the All-Academic Team, this marks the second time this post-season they've been honored for their efforts in the classroom, as
Hathaway Scarpine,
Emma Scanlan, and
Madison Sciba were featured in the College Sports Communicators All-District Team just last week.
