ROW | SMC Adds Jillian Behrens to Coaching Staff

MORAGA, Calif. – The rowing season is fast approaching, and the Gaels have added a new assistant coach to bolster their staff before the boats hit the water next month.
Jillian Behrens joins Saint Mary's from Saint Louis Rowing Club, where she had been coaching the varsity team over the last two seasons.
Behrens is more than familiar with the Bay Area, having rowed for the Cal Women's Rowing team for four seasons. Behrens frequented the varsity four boat, and helped the Bears win bronze in the varsity four at the Pac-12 Championships in 2019 during her sophomore season.
Upon graduating in 2022, Behrens went back to her home state of Missouri where she took up coaching Saint Louis Rowing Club, the team she grew up rowing with.
Behrens is eager about being back in the Bay Area and working with the Gaels,
"I am beyond excited to have been given this opportunity to join the coaching staff at Saint Mary's. I watched Coach Ebke build a nationally competitive program at the University of Central Oklahoma and I now look forward to working with him and Coach Achziger as they continue to build this great program at Saint Mary's. I'm happy to be returning to the Bay Area and Briones, where I pursued my collegiate career. And I'm super stoked to get to know and work with the girls - there's a huge amount of potential here, and I can't wait to get started!"
Coach Brian Ebke is looking forward to coaching with Behrens and her previous experience with rowing for a powerhouse like Cal,
"I'm really excited to work with Jillian and know she'll be a great addition to our team. Jillian's had experience as an athlete at the top of our sport from her time as a National Champion at Cal, and she's proven herself as a coach with the improvement of the Saint Louis Rowing Club varsity women's team over the last two years. Jillian's peers speak highly of her work ethic and coaching acumen and I'm excited for our team to meet Jillian in a few short weeks!"
