SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has announced its All-Preseason Team, which includes Saint Mary's Riley Lynch and Louis Sterobo on the 2023 squad, just as they were in 2022.
 
GAELS TO WATCH
Lynch Started in 17 of the 18 games he played in last season, and was first on the team in assists (5) and shots (39), and was second in points (9). He received WCC Honorable Mention and was named to the WCC All-Academic First Team, as the communication strategy major had a 3.744 GPA to go along with his on-field accolades.
 
The Chandler, Ariz. native registered consecutive three-point games with a goal and an assist in wins against UC Davis and San Jose State on September 4th and 8th respectively last season. Lynch also notched assists against NIU, Cal Poly, and LMU.
 
Sterobo played in 17 games with 16 starts and racked up 1,410 minutes on the season. A stalwart of the Gaels defense, Sterobo was named a First-Team All-WCC Defender in '23. The Odense, Denmark native was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and made WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention with a 3.50 GPA. Sterobo scored a goal at UC Irvine last season for his first collegiate goal.
 
STANDINGS PREDICTIONS
Saint Mary's was predicted to finish fourth in the conference in the WCC Men's Soccer Coaches Poll, after finishing tied for third in last season's WCC standings. Portland has slight edge in total voting points for the preseason poll, with 46 points to 2023 champion San Diego's 44, though each received four first-place votes.
