GOLF | Freshman Jerge Leads Gaels After Day One in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - With round one and most of round two of the National Invitational Tournament completed at Omni Tucson National, the Saint Mary's golf team finds itself tied for 11th place at 6-under par.
In the opening round, freshman Jack Jerge led the Gaels with a 3-under-par performance, securing a tie for 31st place individually. Following closely were freshman James Watney and junior Kristian Bressum, both finishing round one at 1-under par. Rounding out the scores were sophomore Aidan Lee and junior Connor Reis, both at 1-over par.
As round two progressed, Connor Reis was having the best round for the Gaels, carding a 2-under-par performance through 14 holes, while James Watney, Aidan Lee, and Jack Jerge held steady at even par before play was suspended due to darkness. Kristian Bressum is currently at 2-over par through 14 holes for his second round.
The current tournament leader is the University of New Mexico, boasting a score of 35-under-par. Play is set to resume tomorrow at 8:30 am PST, beginning with the completion of the final holes of round two. Following that, the teams will proceed to the third and final round of this year's NIT.
