LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Saint Mary's women's basketball team took the stage in Las Vegas yesterday for day one of the West Coast Conference Basketball Media Days. Representing the Gaels was reigning WCC Freshman of the Year Zeryhia Aokuso and senior transfer Kennedy Johnson along with second year head coach Jeff Cammon. The trio went through a series of media interviews and photo shoots as well as a live segment on ESPN+ to conclude the day. "The conference media day is great for our student-athletes", said Gaels head coach Jeff Cammon. "It's great for our student-athletes to get this kind of exposure and have a unique experience they'll remember for the rest of their careers. The media day also provides great exposure for our sport and the upcoming season. Our student-athletes put in so much work and effort behind the scenes it's great to see them get some recognition and promote our programs".
"We had a great time", said reigning WCC Freshman of the Year Zeryhia Aokuso. "It really gets us excited for the season and we're just ready to play and get started. We can't wait to be back here in March for the conference tournament, hopefully playing our best basketball".

For senior transfer Kennedy Johnson, this was a bit of a new experience for her but she made the most of it and is looking forward to making an impact for the Gaels in her final collegiate season. "The environment was really cool at Resorts World. All the interviews and photo shoots were great and it's a lot of fun to promote our amazing team with coach and Z. I'm very grateful to get an experience like this and at the end of the day, I think we're all just ready to hit the ground running and start our season".
This was the second year the WCC held their basketball media day at the Resorts World Hotel and the event space provided a great atmosphere for the student-athletes to be put in the spotlight with the season around the corner. The Gaels will officially kickoff their 2024-25 campaign on November 4th with a road matchup against Cal and will then make their home debut on November 9th against Denver at 1:00 PM.
