Dominant Defensive Week Earns Natalie Peete Her First Shamrock Office Student-Athlete of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Volleyball flexed their muscle to the tune of two wins last week, due in big part to outstanding defensive play. Nobody contributed to those outstanding defensive performances more than Natalie Peete, who earns the nod as this week's Shamrock Office Student-Athlete of the Week. Peete is the third Gael to earn this honor this season, joining Genevieve Bane and Clarissa Klein.

Defense was the name of the game for the Gaels in both of their wins this week, and Natalie Peete was a big reason as to why. Peete tied her career-high with 19 digs against San Francisco, holding the WCC's team leader in hitting percentage to a sub-0.200 clip. Peete followed that up by besting her career-high to the tune of 23 digs against Santa Clara. The Gaels hit just 0.160 vs Santa Clara, but Peete's terrific defense play after play kept them in the match, as Saint Mary's would eventually complete their weekend sweep of the their fellow WCC Bay Area schools.

Peete and the Gaels will look to keep things rolling during this week's roadtrip to Washington, as they will take on Gonzaga at 6 PM on Thursday and Washington State 24 hours later on Friday.
